Notice of Children’s Privacy

4wardED Privacy Notice for Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA)
Our Privacy Notice explains how 4wardED, Inc. collects and uses personal data when you engage with our services, including online classes, groups, and mobile apps (collectively referred to as our “Services”). This notice specifically addresses compliance with the U.S. Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), which applies to children under 13 years old, while also covering relevant protections for learners under other age thresholds as required by local laws.
For more information about COPPA and tips on protecting children’s online privacy, visit the U.S. Federal Trade Commission’s (FTC) consumer information site at FTC Children’s Privacy.
Data Collection Practices
-
Data from Parents/Guardians: Most personal data about children is collected directly from parents or guardians.
-
Data from Children: After obtaining verified parental consent, we may collect information directly from children on our platform.
-
Limited Consent Accounts: Children signing up independently can engage in limited activities (e.g., liking classes, setting avatars), but cannot enroll in classes or share personal information. Parents are notified and can upgrade these accounts after providing consent.
Account Setup and Permissions
-
Parental Setup: Parents create learner accounts with optional details such as schooling type, time zone, and preferences. These accounts operate in “Learner Mode” with restricted permissions.
-
Learner Mode: Children can attend classes, join groups, and participate in challenges. They cannot enroll in paid activities without parental approval.
-
Notifications: Parents are notified of all activity and can un-enroll their child at any time.
Mobile App Permissions
Parents can configure permissions for push notifications, camera access, and photo usage. Enabling parental controls is strongly recommended to prevent children from modifying settings.
